CREATING THOUGHTFUL GIFTS

What are some of the best gifts you receive?

Isn’t it a great feeling you get when you receive a gift from the heart? And, wouldn’t you like to give a gift that is just as thoughtful and meaningful? You can, open your heart and mind and I can show you the possibilities.

Want a box you can’t wait to open?

Every year I look forward to Christmas and to the box of goodies that my mother-in-law ships to our doorstep. She and Dad always fill a box with things they make. Or, they include sweet little things they pick up during their travels. And yet, it isn’t ever anything expensive, instead, they are simple things that make them think about each one of us.

A gift box filled with smiles.

Their thoughtfulness inspires me to create the same heartfelt and meaningful gift boxes. And, it makes me want to give something like that to my friends and family. I know that you can too. Take the time to create a gift that makes you smile. The recipient of your gift will smile because your thoughtfulness is a priceless gift.

What makes a meaningful gift?

Allow me to share some thoughts about how to create a meaningful gift. Start with a theme. For instance, one of my sisters loves swans.

Take the theme and run!

This year, I decided to fill her box with swan themed items. So, the first item to go into the box was a big box decorated with swans. Then a small pair of china swans in a “pond” added to the collection. I was also able to fit in a nice water bottle painted with swans. I can’t remember every item inside the box however, I know that each time I found a new treasure it made me smile from ear to ear. In turn, I am confident she smiled as she uncovered each item from the box.

It could be their treasure.

Never think an idea is cheesy. As they say, one man’s garbage is another man’s treasure. The trick is to listen to the people in your life and find out what excites them. Then take that idea and run with it.

Remember, it’s the little touches.

Giving a creative and thoughtful gift is a two-way street. The love you use to fill up a gift spills onto the person who receives it and I can show you how.

Add a little something to make it special.

The next time you grab a gift card just think about this. You can pair up your gift card with a small, little something extra. A movie gift card can be packaged with a box of popcorn or candy. You can combine a birthday gift card with a cupcake and a candle. A garden shop gift card can include a pair of gardening gloves. Let your imagination be your guide.

Put your mind to it. That, and I will follow up with more fun ideas for you to put to the test.
